Harnessing the Power of Jeopardy-Inspired Quiz Games for Student Engagement
In an age where attention spans are constantly competing with digital distractions, engaging students can prove to be a challenge. We, as educators, have been finding that gamification can transform the classroom into a lively and interactive environment.
An old TV games show is continuing to make waves. That show is Jeopardy. Transformed into an inspiring quiz type of game, trainers are engaging students in a new way.
Not only is it a fun and interactive way to teach, but, as a teacher, you can cover more ground and reinforce new concepts without students even realizing they are learning.
The Mechanics of Jeopardy-Inspired Quiz Games: Jeopardy-inspired quiz games are very similar to the popular TV quiz show. The game can be played in teams or individually. Just like the TV show, at the beginning of the game, categories and point values are displayed on a board.
The game is played by questions being asked from each category, with corresponding point values. The players have to buzz in to give their answer. Points are awarded for correct answers and deducted for incorrect ones. The team or individual with the most amount of points at the end of the game wins.
